Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Kigali

  • Arrive at Kigali International Airport
  • Check into your hotel and unwind
  • Visit Kimironko Market for local crafts and produce
  • Dinner at Heaven Restaurant or Poivre Noir for Rwandan fusion cuisine

Day 2: Kigali’s History & Art

  • Morning visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial
  • Explore Nyamirambo Women’s Center for a guided walking tour
  • Afternoon at Inema Arts Center and Niyo Art Gallery
  • Optional moto-taxi ride around the city for a local experience

Day 3: Volcanoes National Park & Cultural Immersion

Important Information

Best Travel Time: June to September and December to February (dry seasons, perfect for trekking).

Difficulty Level: Moderate to challenging (especially gorilla/chimp treks). A reasonable fitness level is required.

Permits: Gorilla trekking permits must be booked in advance. Chimpanzee and canopy walk permits are also required.

What to Pack: Sturdy hiking boots, a lightweight rain jacket, insect repellent, binoculars, and a reusable water bottle.

Health & Safety: Yellow fever vaccination required for entry. Anti-malarial medication is recommended.

Local Culture: Respect local customs; modest dress is appreciated in rural and cultural sites.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and lodges, but expect limited coverage in rural parks.
